NUNNELEE DEFENDS RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IN THE MILITARY

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) sent a letter, cosigned by 37 of his colleagues, to Secretary of the Army John McHugh regarding recent reports of Army instructors and officers portraying Christians and socially conservative non-profit organizations as “extremists” and potential threats to our nation.

“I am troubled by what appears to be a mounting culture of religious intolerance and hostility towards Christianity within the Army. I do not believe that the Army has taken adequate steps to address the root cause of these incidents,” Nunnelee said. “It is intolerable for the brave men and women serving our country to be denied the freedoms they are putting their lives on the line to defend.”
