Gov. Bryant: GOP should “hold the line” in shutdown talks
The focus of efforts to break Washington’s budget impasse have shifted to the Senate, where Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican leader Mitch McConnell are talking. The No. 2 Republican, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, says he sees that as progress. House Speaker John Boehner is telling Republican House members that his talks with President Barack Obama have stalled.
Meanwhile, Gov. Phil Bryant believes progress is being made in ending the government shutdown and is advising the GOP to continue standing on their principles when it comes to negotiating with the President and Democrats.
