Honor Flight announces 5K fundraiser with Congressman Palazzo serving as honorary race chairman
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight will the Salute to the Military 5K with Congressman Steven Palazzo, R-Biloxi, serving as the Honorary Race Chairman to raise funds for the encore Honor Flight and the Honor Flight Reunion.
The 5K is planned for Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Air National Guard Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC) located on Hewes Avenue in Gulfport. CRTC will open the base to allow runners and walkers the opportunity to experience the installation firsthand. Yes, walkers are welcome too! The start time is 8 a.m.
To complete their final mission, Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight is planning their final, encore flight for Tuesday, Nov. 5. In addition, Honor Flight will host a reunion for the World War II veterans, guardians, volunteers, and sponsors from all seven flights on Saturday, Nov. 23. Currently, the organization is short of contributions to fully fund the final mission.
