School district bill sent to governor
Governor Phil Bryant is being asked to sign a bill into law that would consolidate the West Point and Clay County school districts into one district.
Senate Bill 2637 was recently passed by the Mississippi Legislature.
It calls for the county district to be dissolved into the city district no later than July 1, 2015.
A new school board would be made up of three members from West Point and two members from Clay County.
The Clay County School District only has one school
