Geoff Pender: Reeves’ Medicaid stance: yes, no
A full-page AARP newspaper ad last week urged citizens to jump all over Gov. Phil Bryant and House Speaker Philip Gunn about their opposition to expanding Medicaid per Obamacare.
At a rally of a couple hundred people at the Capitol, doctors, hospital leaders, clergy and disabled people did the same. They waved signs and decried that Bryant and Gunn were putting Republican politics ahead of people.
No one said a word about Republican Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves.
That’s because, in masterful political strokes, Reeves has found a way to have his cake and eat it, too, on Medicaid expansion.
