Nunnelee successfully completes heart valve surgery
U.S. Rep. Alan Nunnelee has undergone an apparently successful heart valve replacement surgery in Cleveland, Ohio, his office announced Tuesday.
The North Mississippi freshman Republican re-elected last month asked The Commercial Appeal last week to keep word of the procedure private until after it was conducted on Monday.
“Congressman Nunnelee underwent heart valve replacement surgery on Monday morning,” his spokesman, Jordan Russell, said Tuesday afternoon. “It was an elective procedure to correct a problem he has had since birth. While there will be some recovery time, the surgery was a success and he is looking forward to getting back to work.”
