Dupree to seek 4th term as Hub mayor
Three-term Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny Dupree says he will seek another term in office. Dupree told an informal gathering at the Sherrill Community Center Tuesday night that he intends to run for mayor again in 2013.
Dupree, who ran unsuccessfully for governor last year, was first elected mayor in 2001.
He will have an official campaign kick-off after the November elections.
“There are a number of things that you need to do when you’re deciding to run,” said Dupree. “One is to raise funds, the other one is to make sure people know and get the word out that you are running and so that was the purpose of tonight,” he said.
