Dear Friend,
Msnbc.com recently produced a story entitled, “It’s a great confidence booster,” which featured an extraordinary showing of nonpartisanship through a congressional internship for students with special needs that I was honored to launch in 2010.
The Congressional Internship Program for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities is the first of its kind. Originally launched as a pilot program in conjunction with George Mason University’s Mason LIFE program and the Committee on House Administration, this formal internship provides these students with the exciting educational and enrichment opportunities typically afforded to congressional interns in Washington, D.C.
Last semester, 22 House and Senate offices – Republican and Democrat – welcomed 11 Mason LIFE students to their staffs. A total of 40 offices have participated in the program since its inception.
To learn more about what is happening in my congressional office, please join my Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages.
God bless,
Greg Harper
