Hearing set for Desoto County rail closing
DeSoto County officials will send a representative to a public hearing in Winona Nov. 16 on the potential closure of 81.3 miles of track from Canton to Grenada owned by Grenada Railway LLC.
DeSoto County Administrator Michael Garriga will represent DeSoto County at the public hearing which is being convened by the National Surface Transportation Board.
The Mississippi Transportation Commission, the attorney general’s office, members of the state’s congressional delegation and local officials had asked the NSTB for a public hearing.
