Drug testing welfare recipients campaign topic
If elected, lieutenant governor candidate Billy Hewes said Wednesday he would include drug testing for welfare recipients as part of his legislative agenda.
“If we are serious about curtailing drug use, then this requirement should be added,” he said during a meeting at the Capitol.
Among his other proposals are a law that would require felons to submit DNA samples for use in solving other cases, and one dubbed “Caylee’s Law” that would require guardians to report children missing within 24 hours, in honor of slain Florida child Caylee Anthony.
