Dupree, Luckett speak in Oxford
OXFORD – Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny Dupree said Wednesday he would exempt Mississippi teachers from state income taxes and give parents $50 per child to buy school supplies if he is elected governor in November.
Dupree made the promises during a debate with fellow Democratic candidate Bill Luckett at the University of Mississippi.
Dupree said he would provide the income tax breaks and school-supplies money through the state’s existing educational funding.
