Ingalls Shipbuilding lands contract for destroyer program continuation

“Ingalls has proven once again that they build the best ships and have the best workforce,” said Rep. Steven Palazzo, R-Biloxi.

“I am committed to doing whatever it takes to help bring future ships under contract,” he said. “I look forward to continuing to support the jobs our shipbuilding industry provides and helping bring LHA-7 under contract.”

The contract amount is not being released, the Navy said, because the award is the first phase of a two-phased competitive acquisition of additional DDG 51-class ships, and the contract award amount is considered source selection information.
