Cochran questions Gulfport Jobs Corps delays

U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran at a subcommittee hearing on Wednesday questioned delays in building a permanent Jobs Corps Center in Gulfport to replace one Hurricane Katrina destroyed.

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, at the Senate Labor-HHS Subcommittee meeting, told Cochran it could take two to three more years to build a new one.

The Gulfport Jobs Corps Center is using temporary facilities to serve about half its 300-student pre-Katrina enrollment.
