Some 500 library, mental health and education supporters rallied at the Capitol today, urging Gov. Haley Barbour to back off his proposed budget that advocates say cuts too deeply into critical state services.
At one point, a chant broke out of “no more cuts.”
Several people held up signs. One read: “Show God’s love in a world of madness.”
“There comes a time when we must say ‘no more’ and we are here today saying ‘no more,’” said Sam Bounds, executive director of the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents.
