Jackson residents opposes State building
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) –
Residents of northeast Jackson meet to oppose plans to build a new tax commission office in their neighborhood.
More than one hundred people gathered at the River Hills Country Club to organize a Coalition to fight a proposed plan that would borrow $50 million dollars to build the state facility.
Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Leland Speed says it would be located on Lakeland Drive and Ridgewood Road.
Homeowners say it would clear trees that currently buffer the area, increase traffic and lower their property values.
