WHAT: Thompson received $1,000 from General Motors’ Political Action Committee.
WHY IT’S DIRTY: General Motors was the recipient of a $60 billion taxpayer bailout last year that has not been paid back, so the automaker has no right to curry congressional favor at Americans’ expense.
WILL THOMPSON GIVE IT BACK? “The congressman does not plan to refund the contribution,” Thompson’s press secretary Lanier Avant said.
