Updates On The Congressional Delegation

** Last week we noted that Rep. Alan Nunnelee said he doesn’t “feel a need to insulate myself from my friends and neighbors” following the shooting of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

On Nunnelee’s schedule is a February 22 townhall at the Desoto County Courthouse in Hernando, which will be his first in the district since the shooting. The Commercial Appeal spoke with Sheriff Bill Rasco who said his department will be ready: “I have already met with Congressman Nunnelee’s people here in Desoto County, and we’re going to provide all the security for Congressman Nunnelee when he comes to Desoto County.”

** Rep. Steven Palazzo recently announced the opening of two district offices. The first offices will be in Hattiesburg and Gulfport. The office in Hattiesburg will be located on Main Street, while the Gulfport office is located on 25th Ave.

Palazzo also named Jamie Miller of Gulfport as deputy chief of staff. He will oversee operations in the district and be based out of the Gulfport office. Miller has served in a number of community development roles over the past decade.
