Tom King announces transportation commissioner bid; other candidates declare intentions
PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Several candidates announced on Monday their intentions to run for election or re-election to state office, and more announcements were expected before the week is out.
Sen. Tom King, R-Petal, officially announced his bid for Transportation Commissioner in Mississippi’s Southern District, which runs from the coast to Highway 84. Wayne Brown announced in December that he would not seek re-election.
King is chairman of the Highways and Transportation Committee.
“I’ve always had a love for transportation,” said King, who vowed to improve communication between the department and local officials, as well as the public, should he be elected.
