Realignment of South Key to Big GOP Margin
Republicans steamrolled the South on Tuesday, sweeping every Senate election and making major gains in the House, including knocking off several veteran lawmakers.
From the Chesapeake Bay down to the Florida Keys and west to the Louisiana bayou, the GOP vanquished 14 Democratic incumbents and stole a total of 19 seats in the House — nearly one-third of all seats picked up nationally in that chamber.
