HARPER TO KEYNOTE U.S. OIL & GAS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Gregg Harper (R–Miss.) will deliver the keynote remarks at the U.S. Oil & Gas Association’s 2010 Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the King Edward Hotel in historic downtown Jackson, Mississippi from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

“I was pleased with the Interior Department’s recent announcement to lift its ill-advised moratorium on deepwater drilling,” said Harper, a freshman Republican who represents Mississippi’s Third Congressional District. “The government must provide adequate resources to federal regulators to ensure an efficient approval process for companies wishing to resume offshore operations. Without the necessary resources for federal regulators to carry out inspections, we still have a de facto moratorium that puts over 100,000 oil-related jobs in the Gulf region at risk.”
