Brandon Presley in Reuters talking about Entergy investigation

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 14, 2010

Entergy cooperating in DOJ probe of utilities

New Orleans-based Entergy said the Justice Department told the company Sept. 24 that it had opened an investigation into competitive issues related to generation procurement, dispatch and transmission system practices and policies of Entergy’s four utilities that operate in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas.

“These are questions and concerns we have had for over two years,” said Brandon Presley, chairman of the Mississippi Public Service Commission. “Now, the DOJ does, too. The charges they are talking about — how they procure power and how transmission is operated — make up the lion’s share of a customer’s bill.”

The company declined to release the DOJ letter as did the agency. Presley said he has asked Entergy to submit the letter to the Mississippi commission.
