DCCC – ‘Republicans are...

DCCC – ‘Republicans are reserving air time in Mississippi’

By: Magnolia Tribune - August 20, 2010

Friend —

They think they can end this campaign before it even begins.

A secretive Republican front group is running a massive $4.1 million worth of swift-boat style attack ads to try and bury our Democratic candidates under a tidal wave of Karl Rove-style distortions.

On top of that, I just got news that national Republicans are reserving air time in Mississippi.

House Democrats are fighting back with everything we’ve got but we simply can’t keep pace without your help. We must raise $183,402 more by tomorrow’s midnight media buy deadline to counter these dishonest ads and set the record straight.

Contribute $5, $10 or more by tomorrow at midnight so we can fight back instantly against this special interest-funded barrage of swift-boat style attack ads.

This is without a doubt the largest media buy of the summer. And, it’s funded by Republican special interest groups fiercely determined to bring back the failed Bush economic agenda.

But, it’s just the beginning. The ads — part of a midterm election likely to be the most expensive on record — will run in 27 media markets through August. Democrats hold all but one of the 24 House seats in question, including 17 incumbents seeking reelection. According to news reports, our Republican counterparts have already reserved air time as well in more than 40 districts.

We can’t afford to let this blitz of dishonest and misleading swift-boat style attack ads go unanswered.

Contribute by tomorrow at midnight so we can fight back instantly against this special interest-funded barrage of swift-boat style attack ads.

This November’s election is shaping up into the most expensive midterm election in history. The financial firepower of our Republican opponents and the special interests supporting their agenda is absolutely staggering.

Republicans may have the backing of special interests that are looking out for Wall Street, Big Oil and health insurance companies, but we have you.

Thank you,

Chris Van Hollen
