Clarion-Ledger – MDOT leadership is dysfunctional

Central District Transportation Commissioner Dick Hall used the right term to describe the leadership at the Mississippi Department of Transportation — dysfunctional.

How many heads of a major business, managing millions of dollars and thousands of employees would be headed to the office this morning if they had been arrested for public intoxication. How many heads of major state agencies? Well, at least one.

While most agency heads were getting up with the sunrise on a recent morning, MDOT Executive Director Butch Brown was being arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct and public intoxication at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi.

Brown faces a Sept. 13 court hearing on the public intoxication charge. The disorderly conduct charge was dropped when the casino did not pursue it (strangely).
