Q — Who or what influenced your decision to run for the office in 2007?
A — In essence, the people of the State of Mississippi. I felt the people of this state needed a choice in the general election in choosing a new insurance commissioner. It was my opinion that others running did not have the best interests of the consumers or the state insurance market in mind. I decided to run to try to protect the consumers of the state.
Q — Please explain to our readers the wind mitigation program that you have spearheaded for Gulf Coast residents.
A — Hardening a home through accepted mitigation practices is the surest way to lower insurance premium costs throughout the coastal region. Mitigation saves lives and property.
