Challengers file in 4 Miss. congressional races

All 4 of Mississippi’s U.S. House members will have opponents on the ballot this year.

Candidates were facing a qualifying deadline at 5 p.m. Monday.

In north Mississippi’s 1st District, three Republicans and four independents had filed by mid-Monday, while incumbent Travis Childers was the only Democrat.

In the Delta’s 2nd District, there were three Republicans and Democratic incumbent Bennie Thompson.
