CA – McGlowan speaks to voters at DeSoto Courthouse event

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 16, 2010

Candidate courts voters

“Change is coming and God is part of that change,” McGlowan said.

McGlowan enthusiastically drove home her views opposing abortion and same-sex marriage and supporting small business.

But it was things she has said about gun control that caused some tense moments.

About 30 minutes prior to her speech, McGlowan was addressing a few supporters who had already arrived. That’s when Frank Walker of Olive Branch approached McGlowan, waving a document in the candidate’s face.

“I don’t mind if people ask me questions, but do it in a peaceful way,” McGlowan said. “If people don’t know where I am coming from, they should ask questions. The only way we can have transparency is through debate. But not by approaching me and doing things in a hostile way.”

The controversy stemmed from an appearance McGlowan made on Jackson talk radio host Paul Gallo’s show, where she said she supported registering guns with the federal government.

McGowan told the crowd she was ambushed by the question and was playing devil’s advocate because that was her role as a political analyst.
