Lawmakers may be recalled to address development project
Gov. Haley Barbour’s spokesman, Dan Turner, confirmed Tuesday there has been discussion of a special session.
“Is it a possibility? Yes,” he said. “Until a call is issued, nothing is certain.”
State law gives the governor authority to call a special session when “the public interest requires it.”
Officials are tight-lipped on the type of economic development legislation that may be considered.
“It sounds like a good project, and we’re excited about it,” said House Speaker Billy McCoy, D-Renzi.
McCoy said he did not want to divulge too many details.
