MS State Medical Assoc. to break from AMA
The Mississippi State Medical Association votes to de unify from the AMA.
The MSMA bylaws required their physicians to also be members of the American Medical Association.
Mississippi is the only state medical association that enforced such a rule. Saturday morning the association’s house of delegates voted 209 to 31 to change it. MSMA President Doctor Randy Easterling says the move was a result of the AMA’s support of President Obama’s healthcare reform that included a public option.
