A tea party may seem like a strange place for protesters to meet, but when the letters stand for Taxed Enough Already, it makes a little more sense.
On July 4 at 10 a.m., protesters are expected to make their second appearance at the Hernando Square, where nearly 1,000 people protested high taxes and costly government spending on April 15. The protests occurred in over 200 cities in the United States, including Memphis. This time, however, Hernando is the only city in the Memphis metro area hosting a TEA party.
The Hernando protest is expected to be bigger than before, with performances by Delta Blues bluegrass band and the Veterans of Foreign Wars color guard.
Also, Sen. Merle Flowers will deliver a keynote speech followed by several speeches by local dignitaries. Fox News correspondent Angela McGlowan will also speak at the event. An open microphone will be available for citizens to express their own opinions.
