Hinds to get $6.8M in federal stimulus
Hinds County is getting $6.8 million in economic stimulus money for road projects.
The Board of Supervisors learned at a meeting today that the Central Mississippi Planning and Development District recalculated the distribution of $12 million in stimulus funds between Rankin, Hinds and Madison counties.
The CMPDD early in March figured Hinds would get about $3.2 million. But local officials and 2nd District U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson objected, saying Jackson and Hinds need more money.
