Toyota’s announced indefinite delay of its Blue Springs plant on Monday created a “wait and see” attitude for many businesses and projects related to the automaker’s arrival.
Here is what some of them were saying Tuesday:
– REAL ESTATE: “I don’t see the Toyota announcement negatively affecting our market any more than the economic situation at present,” said Ed Neelly IV, president of the Northeast Mississippi Board of Realtors and son of Tupelo Mayor Ed Neelly.
While the delay is a disappointment to the real estate market, he said the industry already was braced for a setback in the timeline, especially after Toyota switched from the Highlander to the Prius in July.
“It just goes to show you that we aren’t immune” to the economic troubles, Neelly said. “We’re just going to have to wait and see.”
