Congressional leaders are expected to notify constituents in the coming weeks whether they have been selected for the few coveted tickets for the swearing-in ceremony.

About 240,000 tickets will be divided among members of the 111th Congress so lawmakers can provide them to constituents.

Those who applied for tickets through 2nd District U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson should find out within the next week or so, spokesman Lanier Avant said.

Thompson, a Democrat, has received thousands of requests but is expected to receive only about 200 tickets to distribute.
