The prevalence of independent ads in the contest between Republican Sen. Roger Wicker and his rival, former Democratic Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, are helping increase the hostile tenor of the Senate race.
Third-party ads usually go on the attack – and those attacks are often inaccurate.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has filled the airwaves with ads that accuse Wicker of voting nine times to raise his pay when he was a member of the House of Representatives.
The charges are echoed by Musgrove’s campaign.
But they aren’t quite true.
