Today, United States Senator Roger Wicker announced he raised $1,148,150.67 in the third quarter of 2008, bringing the total amount raised this year to more than $5.26 million with over $1.66 million on hand.
“I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of generosity from thousands of Mississippians, who continue to show their support for our agenda,” Wicker said. “With such overwhelming support, it is clear that we will continue to power towards victory over the next three weeks.”
Wicker was appointed by Governor Haley Barbour in December 2007 to the United States Senate to fill the unfinished term of Senator Trent Lott. He formally announced his candidacy to keep the seat in January. Prior to his appointment Wicker served in the United States House of Representatives for 13 years and in the State Senate for seven years. Wicker retired from the Air Force Reserve in 2004 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
