Jackson pallet company files $100M lawsuit against city, mayor

A pallet company on Mill Street filed a law suit Monday against the city of Jackson, Mayor Frank Melton and ten unidentified individuals.

Charlotte Reeves and her husband, Carl Monte Reeves, who own A-1 Pallets, are suing the city for false and defamatory statements that caused the loss of revenue and income for the business, said attorney Ed Flechas.

The Reeves’ are asking for $100 million in punitive and actual damages, Flechas said.

“In May 2007, the Defendants commenced a series of actions designed and intended, or at a minimum with reckless disregard, to result in the closure of Plantiffs’ business, A-1 Pallet Company, or to otherwise cause damage to force the relocation of said business,” the lawsuit document says.
