Gallo Notes: June 18, 2008
MHA 77th Annual Leadership Conference is holding their Convention June 18-20 at the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa in Point Clear Alabama, not Mississippi. At a time when the fight is over fiscal responsibility, MHA takes hundreds of thousands of dollars next door to Alabama to hold its meeting. Roll Tide!
Apparently the Mississippi Hospital Association has additional dollars to spend above and beyond the $350,000.00 the consultant who devised the “Assessment Plan”. It is good to know that most of these folks don’t mind spending a few extra dollars for gas to take their business across the state line. By the way, I’m not sure who all will attend Thursday’s PAC (Political Action Committee) invitation only breakfast. I didn’t get an invite.
When they all return next week, look for a political showdown starting Thursday as the Un-Special Session resumes. Because of the November elections, I believe the stakes are far more than just McCoy and his boys getting their way this time.
I can just see and hear the political ads for Musgrove and Childers, “This summer Haley Barbour, a rich lobbyist of big, mean, evil tobacco, sacrificed the health of Mississippi’s innocent senior citizens to protect his friends. This is why we need to send a clear message to Roger Wicker and Greg Davis, that Washington doesn’t need that kind of so-called compassionate conservatism. Help restore sanity in Washington by voting for CONGRESSMAN Travis Childers and former Governor Ronnie Musgrove. Our senior citizen deserves no less.”
PS-If either candidate uses the aforementioned script, please send me a check.
