Suspension of whistle-blower suit is sought
Attorneys are asking for suspension of their whistle-blower lawsuit against State Farm until a federal judge decides whether they can continue to prosecute the case.
State Farm and its vendors filed numerous motions Tuesday, asking that U.S. District Judge L.T. Senter Jr. dismiss the suit as groundless and for other reasons. They also want the two law firms representing the former claims adjusters who filed it, Cori and Kerri Rigsby, removed for what the insurance company alleges are ethical violations.
Senter Jr. decided Thursday to stay deadlines for responses to State Farm’s motions until he decides whether to grant the Rigsbys’ request to stay proceedings pending his ruling on State Farm’s motion for disqualification.
The Rigsbys’ attorneys said they want to concentrate on their response to that motion, adding they have done nothing to merit disqualification.
