This was a textbook lesson in the fact that money and TV budgets don’t necessarily win primaries. That, plus the fact that Gregg Harper had labored in the vineyard for years to elect other Republican candidates.
On paper, Charlie Ross was better qualified. But in the end, the voters simply didn’t like him. That was true in the 2007 primary race with Phil Bryant and it was true on April 1.
