Mississippi’s congressional delegation split 2-1 on House passage of a $146 billion economic stimulus package.
U.S. Reps. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., and Chip Pickering, R-Miss., voted for the bill Tuesday. Democrat Gene Taylor voted against it.
There is one vacancy in Mississippi’s House delegation.
The House plan would speed rebates of $600 to $1,200 to most taxpayers. It would send at least some rebate to anyone with at least $3,000 in income, with more going to families with children and less going to wealthier taxpayers.
