Democratic Party sponsors breakfast for ministers on Saturday
JACKSON (Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007) – Democratic Party nominees for statewide office will outline their campaign platforms Saturday morning at a “Fellowship Breakfast for Ministers” in Jackson.
The event will be from 7 a.m.-9 a.m. at the Country Fisherman, 3110 U.S. 80 West in Jackson. Pastors from churches across the metropolitan Jackson area as well as other parts of the state are expected to attend.
“Church pastors – who serve as key leaders in their communities – will hear first-hand how our Democratic Party nominees will help all Mississippians,” said Wayne Dowdy, chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party.
“Our candidates back issues that matter: lower grocery taxes, consistent education funding, better health care and quicker hurricane recovery,” Dowdy said. “This breakfast will let them outline their plans in more detail.”
If pastors or other religious organization representatives would like to attend or need more information, they can call the Mississippi Democratic Party headquarters at (601) 969-2913 for details.
Candidate campaign information and other election literature, including copies of The Mississippi Democrat, the Mississippi Democratic Party’s official quarterly newspaper, also will be distributed free of charge.
“With less than three weeks before Election Day, our breakfast Saturday couldn’t come at a better time,” Dowdy said. “Our candidates look forward to sharing vital information with some of our most important community leaders.”
