The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal Editorial, 10/1/7
For a race that most observers anticipated would be no contest, the Mississippi governor’s race has taken an interesting turn.
Gov. Haley Barbour is still a strong favorite, but his campaign’s aggressive posture indicates he’s not taking Democrat John Arthur Eaves Jr. lightly.
The most healthy aspect of the campaign so far has been the willingness of both candidates to engage head-on in public debates. The first was held Sept. 20 in Biloxi, and another will be at Mississippi State University’s Lee Hall on Thursday at 7 p.m.
