Reacting to rising crime rates in northeast Jackson, Mayor Frank Melton said today he planned to take personal control of patrolling the area, starting tonight.
“We’re going to hit it real hard out there this evening,” he said. “I’m going to get in trouble, but we’ll deal with that tomorrow.”
Melton did not elaborate on his plans, except that he would lead patrols of the area.
