By: Magnolia Tribune - August 1, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 7/31/7

A new crime center will track thieves and sexual predators who use the Internet to commit crimes in Mississippi, federal and state officials predicted today.

Officials celebrated the opening of the Mississippi Cyber Crime Fusion Center in the Sillers State Office Building. The center is funded through Attorney General Jim Hood’s office and a federal grant.

Hood said it’s the first center of its kind to house state, federal and local authorities in one location to fight cyber crimes. Some of the crimes they will target include child pornography and identity theft.
