The inconvenient fact for Attorney General Jim Hood and his allegations of gasoline price gouging in the wake of Hurricane Katrina is that the Federal Trade Commission last year found “no instances of illegal market manipulation that led to higher prices,” The Wall Street Journal reported May 25 – including the tens of thousands of independent service station owners and distributors across America.
Five Mississippi suppliers are not admitting wrongdoing but will pay the state a total of $293,255.
So what’s Mr. Hood got that the feds don’t?
