- The President’s return to the Magnolia State to promote the Republican field comes after the Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate has hosted a bevy of national progressive leaders in Mississippi ahead of the November 3 General Election.
President Donald Trump is coming back to Mississippi on Monday, one week before the November 3 General Election, to rally support for the state’s Republican candidates at an event in Corinth.
The GOP midterm field in Mississippi features U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, 1st District Congressman Trent Kelly, 2nd District candidate Ron Eller, 3rd District Congressman Michael Guest, and 4th District Congressman Mike Ezell.
Trump officially endorsed Hyde-Smith’s re-election bid in March 2025 calling her “100% MAGA” and saying she was “doing a fantastic job representing the Incredible People of Mississippi!”

President Trump also backed Hyde-Smith in the 2018 special election, appearing with her twice that year before she won by 7 points. He again supported the Senator in 2020, a race she won by 10 points over the same Democrat opponent, former Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy.
In addition, Trump has previously endorsed the re-election bids of Kelly, Guest and Ezell.

Fellow Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana and Senate Majority John Thune of South Dakota have also joined Hyde-Smith in Mississippi in the lead up to November, appearing with her at fundraising events this cycle.
President Trump’s return to the Magnolia State to promote the Republican field comes after Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate Scott Colom has hosted a bevy of national progressive leaders in Mississippi ahead of Election Day. Democrat congressional candidates have also appeared at Colom campaign events.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, Georgia U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock, Rhode Island U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Delaware U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, Maryland U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks, and New Jersey U.S. Senator Cory Booker have all visited Mississippi in recent weeks campaigning on behalf of their fellow Democrat Colom. Former Biden-era U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is said to be coming to Mississippi next week as well.
Like Espy in his challenge of Hyde-Smith, Colom received the backing of former President Barack Obama (D). Obama appeared in a campaign ad for the Lowndes County District Attorney earlier this month.

Notably, President Trump has carried Mississippi in all three elections he has been on the ballot, winning the state in 2016 with 57.9%, in 2020 with 57.6%, and in 2024 with 60.9%.
Former Vice President Harris was only able to muster 38% in Mississippi in her 2024 presidential race against Trump. Former President Obama also lost in Mississippi, pulling in 43% in 2008 and 43.8% in 2012.
Mississippi has not elected a Democrat to serve in the U.S. Senate since 1982 and has not supported a Democrat for President since 1976.
