Award Recognizes Legislators for Support of Pro-Growth, Pro-Jobs Policies
U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce “Spirit of Enterprise Award” in recognition of his support for pro-growth policies in the second session of the 115th Congress. The award was presented at a meeting of the Madison County Business League in Ridgeland, which featured leaders of the Mississippi Economic Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
“Mississippi is among the most pro-growth, pro-business states in America, and I am proud to be doing my part to promote our economy and create good-paying jobs for Mississippians,” Wicker said. “I appreciate the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for this recognition and the Mississippi Economic Council for the work they do to support businesses in our state.”
The Chamber’s prestigious Spirit of Enterprise Award is given annually to members of Congress based on their votes on critical business legislation as outlined in the Chamber’s annual scorecard, How They Voted. Members who supported the Chamber’s position on at least 70 percent of those votes qualify to receive the award.
During the second session of the 115th Congress, the Chamber scored members on 10 Senate votes on legislation that would reduce health care costs, expand access to capital, reduce regulatory burdens, and combat the opioid crisis. This is the 31st year that the U.S. Chamber has formally honored the accomplishments of this select group of members of Congress.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
