Washington, DC – Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) congratulated his deputy chief of staff, Patrick Large, for receiving the Patrick Henry Award from the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS).
The Patrick Henry Award is the civilian counterpart to the NGAUS Distinguished Service Medal awarded to civilians that have distinguished themselves over an extended period of time for their support of the Armed Forces of the United States, the National Guard, or NGAUS. Individuals must display and provide exceptionally strong support for the National Guard to clearly merit the award.
Serving as Palazzo’s legislative director, Large has helped create and introduce legislation such as the Reserve Component Benefits Parity Act that works to ensure all service members, regardless of deployment authority, are given the same benefits for their service. In 2017, this legislation was included in the National Defense Authorization Act, which was signed into law by President Trump.

He understands the sacrifices that members of our National Guard make and works to ensure they receive the benefits they have rightly earned. I’m proud of Patrick and his continued dedication to the National Guard, as well as south Mississippi and our nation.” Palazzo said
Large joined Congressman Palazzo’s staff when he assumed office in 2010 and has served as the Congressman’s legislative director since 2013. Last year he was promoted to the role of deputy chief of staff.
