Mississippi’s teacher shortage prompts proposed license flexibility
At its Nov. 9 meeting, the state Board of Education voted to begin modifications for a special license that has a number of requirements, including testing competent in certain subject matters.
The modification would allow the state to issue a one-year license to teachers who hold at least a bachelor’s degree in the subject area they want to teach.
An aspiring history teacher who majored in history, for example, would qualify for the temporary license.
