Palazzo Announces Gulfport-Biloxi International $3.4 Million Grant
Washington, DC – Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) today announced a $3.4 million federal grant to Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport for noise mitigation measures.
“This is another example of a sound federal investment in South Mississippi. The Gulfport-Biloxi Airport plays a vital role in our economic growth and stability, and it’s important that we provide the infrastructure support needed to ensure their continued success.”
This will support an ongoing effort that began in 2005 to sound proof residences through the installation of new windows, doors, insulation or in some cases HVAC units for properties which fall within the FAA’s pre-established sound contours.
Gulfport-Biloxi Airport currently adds more than $115 million in direct economic impact and carries approximately 600,000 passengers annually. In addition the airport is home to the Mississippi National Guard Combat Readiness Training Center and the Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot.
