@MSGOP spotlights New Albany Alderman candidate Livingston, Pascagoula Mayor candidate Maxwell

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 28, 2017

From the Mississippi Republican Party:

###

Our first Republican municipal Candidate in the Spotlight this week is Amy Livingston, candidate for Ward 1 Alderman in New Albany.

Ms. Livingston is a native of New Albany and is an Instructor and Supervisor at the University of Mississippi.

She has served on numerous local boards and committees, including the Main Street Promotions Committee where she received the 2016 service award. She has served as a New Haven volunteer — a day program for adults with disabilities, and also volunteers with a host of other organizations including the Historic Northside, Symphony League, Riverfest, Union County Humane Society, and Recycle New Albany.

Ms. Livingston has most recently been appointed to the Mississippi Autism Advisory Committee.

Ms. Livingston is a civil servant and town advocate devoted to serving the people of New Albany as its next Ward 1 Alderman.

“I have learned if people want to get things done, they cannot please everyone, but communication is still vital,” Ms. Livingston said. “City officials must be effective and efficient in their encounters with the people they serve and they must know where to find answers that you don’t have. I see the value in preserving New Albany’s history and traditions while also making necessary changes for economic growth and progress.”

Ms. Livingston understands the need for the practical application of conservative values that will bring those in her community together for the long term benefit of New Albany.

“I have conservative values, but I am also very open minded and love to hear new ideas, especially from people who do not think like I do,” Ms. Livingston noted. “I know that democracy is not defined in absolutes. I believe in bringing diverse populations of people together, utilizing the strengths of our citizens and making good decisions that will move New Albany forward.”

Our second Republican municipal Candidate in the Spotlight is Dane Maxwell, candidate for Mayor of Pascagoula.

Mr. Maxwell is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, 20 year law enforcement officer veteran, business man and political consultant. He was born and raised in Pascagoula where he became involved in politics at a very early age, working on his first campaign walking door to door with his mother for Trent Lott during his congressional campaign in 1972.

Mr. Maxwell has worked as a volunteer on numerous campaigns afterwards for Congressman Lott and then as a volunteer on his Senate Campaign. Over the past 40 years, Dane has been actively involved in local and state politics along with his father, former Pascagoula Mayor Robbie Maxwell.

In 2015, Mr. Maxwell was hired by the Donald J. Trump for President Campaign as the Mississippi State Director and promoted after the Primary Election as the Southeast Regional Political Coordinator for eight states to help capture a record number of votes for President Trump in the General Election.

Mr. Maxwell has extensive background in Economic Development and has been involved for years bringing business to Mississippi. Dane has built four successful companies, two of which are national. Last year Dane sold his largest company which had a footprint in 42 states.

“I have been affected personally by government bureaucracy and know things must change,” Mr. Maxwell said. “As mayor, we will help turn our city around and begin the process of rebuilding this city as it was years ago. Pascagoula will be more business friendly and dedicated to supporting new generations of residents.”
